Firefighter taken to ECM

ZIP CITY – Firefighters have been battling a sawmill fire tonight and one has been taken to the hospital, according to those at the scene.

The unidentified firefighter was taken nonemergency to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence. No word on his condition or why he was taken to the hospital.

Volunteer firefighters from Zip City, Cloverdale and Underwood have been extinguishing the fire at the sawmill on Lauderdale 8 since about 7:30 p.m.
