FLORENCE - A Lauderdale County woman is in jail, accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old Wilson High School boy, authorities said.
Dana Myhan Allen, 38, 120 Southland Drive, Florence, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with second-degree rape, Lauderdale County Sheriff Ronnie Willis said. The reported rape took place off campus, authorities said.
Lauderdale County Chief Investigator Travis Clemmons said investigators have been looking into the allegations for more than a week.
"They were interviewing witnesses and potential witnesses," Willis said.
Clemmons said Allen was brought to the sheriff's office Tuesday afternoon. After questioning, she was charged and taken into custody. She was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center where she is being held on bail totaling $5,000.
Authorities said it is against the law for a child under 16 to have a sexual relationship with an adult.
