ATHENS — In what Athens State University President Bob Glenn called an historic day for the school, its 11-member board of trustees met for the first time this morning with Gov. Robert Bentley chairing the meeting.
The trustees will govern the 190-year-old institution, which was transferred from the purview of the Methodist Church to the state in 1975.
Instead of being part of post-secondary, which governs the state’s junior college system, Glenn will carry out the policies of the trustees, Sen. Arthur Orr, R-Decatur, said.
Orr is a board member
