I applaud the Obama administration for putting a halt to the Keystone XL Pipeline. There are many more ways that jobs can be created (local jobs) through an infrastructure job creation bill. Of course this has been proposed by the Obama administration but rejected by the Republican House of Representatives.
Having had many years of experience with establishing oil pipelines in the developing world, there are very few that have not damaged the environment in some way and therefore negatively impacted people’s lives. Infrastructure jobs would be far more environmentally and socially beneficial and would keep local workers employed for many years locally. The Keystone XL Pipeline might create high paying jobs, but they would be severely limited in length and would not improve people’s lives.
One would think that the business (not oil of course) community could get behind an infrastructure job bill, as it would improve the businesses’ ability to move goods and services around the country as well as provide safer mobility for citizens to explore this great nation.
