Handy Festival chosen among top events in Alabama
|
FLORENCE - The W.C. Handy Music Festival in Florence has been chosen one of the top 10 events for 2012, Alabama tourism officials said.
Florence-Lauderdale Tourism Director Debbie Wilson said the event is significant for the Shoals community and is deserving of the top 10 ranking.
"There are many variables, but they look at the previous year's events and number of attendees," Wilson said. "There are more than 350 events statewide. This is a big honor to be among these top events.
"It's a great event and last year was a great year, weather-wise and event-wise," she said.
The Handy Festival is the only north Alabama event on the top 10 list.
