HAMILTON -- Police are investigating the death of a longtime employee at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Hamilton whose body was found Tuesday in the hospital, officials said.
Hamilton Police Chief Ralph Conner states in a news release that a hospital employee found the body of Hugh “Steven” Holland, 62, Russellville, inside a piece of equipment in the facility’s nuclear medicine area. The body was found just after 11 a.m.
He said the Hamilton Fire Department was notified through a 911 call that a person was trapped by a heavy piece of equipment.
Holland, a radiology technician, was found in radiology machinery. Attempts to resuscitate him were not successful.
Authorities said Holland worked at the hospital for 30 years.
Conner said criminal activity is not suspected in the death. He added the exact cause of Holland’s death is under investigation and could involve medical or accidental circumstances.
