Man charged with enticing girl
FLORENCE -- Authorities have arrested a man who is accused of making inappropriate gestures to a young girl.
Officials with the Florence Police Department said Robert Brandon Boswell, 22, 432 Cypress Mill Road, Florence, has been charged with-enticing a child for immoral purposes.
The charge is a Class C felony, which carries a penalty-of one to 10 years in prison if convicted.
Detectives said Boswell is accused of making inappropriate remarks and gestures to an 11-year-old girl as she was walking home from school.
Boswell is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on bail totaling $50,000.
Four charged in weekend burglary
RUSSELLVILLE -- Four men have been arrested in connection with a recent burglary, authorities said.
Officials with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office said the four were arrested Wednesday.
Those arrested included Bradley Joel Sexton, 18, 4330 Lawrence 722, Hillsboro; Alexander Josh Nelson, 20,-264 Lawrence 161, Town Creek; Joshua Clint Blankenship, 20, 1535 Lawrence 110, Town Creek; and Joshua Heath Trapp, 21, 6103 Franklin 99, Russellville.
All four were charged with first-degree theft of property, third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief.
Investigators said they are accused of breaking into a business on Alabama 243, just-outside of Russellville. The burglary was discovered Monday morning.
They are being held in the Franklin County Jail.
Man accused of taking sailboat
SHEFFIELD -- Authorities have arrested a Colbert County man after he was accused of stealing a sailboat.
Sheffield police investigator Capt. Greg Ray said William Patrick Harvey, 69, 1213 Frankfort Road, Tuscumbia, has been charged with second-degree theft of property, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, driving while license suspended and no proof of insurance.
Ray said Harvey is accused of stealing a British Seagul Sailboat and a trailer from a location on Shop Pike where the vessel was being stored.
The boat and trailer were located by Lauderdale County deputies at a residence on Lauderdale 14, near the Oakland community.
Ray said Harvey is being held in the Colbert County Jail on bail of $2,300.
Woman indicted on theft charges
MONTGOMERY -- A former nurse has been arrested after an indictment was handed down against her for stealing prescription drugs from a Florence nursing home.
Officials with the Alabama Attorney General's Office said Tina Louise Keeler, 45, of Florence, has been charged with second-degree theft of property.
The charge is a Class C felony, which is punishable by one to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $5,000 if convicted.
Reports indicate the attorney general's office presented evidence during the March 27 session of the Lauderdale County grand jury.
Officials with King's office said Keeler is accused of taking Lortab from Florence Nursing Home and Rehabilitation. Reports indicate Keeler was a former nurse at the facility.
"Theft within nursing homes is a serious charge, particularly when it involves the handling of a controlled substance,'' Attorney General Troy King said in a prepared statement.
The case was investigated by Special Investigator Tracey Brown-Edwards, of the Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, and is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Bruce Lieberman, chief of the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
Inmate charged after fight over $2
RUSSELLVILLE -- An inmate in the Franklin County Jail faces additional charges after he was accused of robbing a fellow inmate of $2, authorities said.
Department officials said Kevin Wayne Blackburn, 34, 201 Winstead Road, Spruce Pine, has been charged with first-degree assault and first-degree robbery.
Investigators said Blackburn, who was in jail on pending drug charges, is accused of assaulting another inmate and taking the money.
Blackburn is being held without bail.
Open beer leads to drug charges
WAYNESBORO, Tenn. -- A Lauderdale County man has been arrested on drug and weapons charges, officials said.
Wayne County Sheriff Ric Wilson said Mike Linville, 42, 6290 Lauderdale 87, Waterloo, Ala., has been charged with unlawful possession of a schedule II drug (methamphetamine) for resale, illegal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Authorities said Linville was arrested during a traffic stop for possession of an open beer container.
Investigators said after Linville was stopped, his car was searched and the drugs and weapon were found.
He is being held in the Wayne County Jail.
Pair charged in car burglary
LEIGHTON -- Two Colbert County men have been arrested in connection with the burglary of a vehicle, officials said.
Authorities said George Edward "Cheese'' Ricks, 47, Leighton, and Ricky Ruedoia "Tater'' Woods, 50, 2116 Percy Sledge Lane, Leighton, have each been charged with second-degree receiving stolen-property.
They were arrested in Leighton on Tuesday.
They are accused of taking various tools from a vehicle that was parked at a business on Second Street in Sheffield.
