WAYNESBORO, TENN.
Death being investigated
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a man found at a residence in Lutts.
Sheriff Ric Wilson said the body of Stanley Risner, 40, of Waynesboro, was found at a residence in Lutts, which is in the southern part of the county, on Tuesday.
"At this point, we don't have any idea what happened or what caused the death," Wilson said.
The sheriff said Risner was visiting a friend at the residence, spent the night and was found dead in the bed Tuesday.
"There is no visible signs of trauma, so at this point we don't know if it is an overdose, natural causes or what," Wilson said.
He said the body had been sent to forensics for an autopsy.
"We're hoping the autopsy will determine the exact cause and we'll go from there," Wilson said.
MOULTON
Two arrested on drug charges
The Lawrence County Drug Task Force arrested two people in separate incidents on drug charges Tuesday.
Steven Ken Waldrop, 49, Moulton Motel, Room 4, Moulton, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
The arrest came after officers received a complaint that drug deals were being made at a church parking lot on Alabama 33 in the Wren community.
Amard Martin, of the task force, said agents went to the location, spoke to Waldrop and then got consent to search his vehicle. Officers found several types of controlled substance pills.
Waldrop was taken into custody and is being held in the Lawrence County Jail without bail.
In an unrelated incident, officers arrested Tammy Vance King, 654 Lawrence 151, Town Creek, on unlawful possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop.
Reports indicate King was stopped on a minor traffic violation, and when the vehicle was searched, prescription drugs, which are considered a controlled substance, were discovered.
King is being held in the Lawrence County Jail without bail.
