Woman rescued from ravine
LITTLEVILLE — A Colbert County woman was flown to Huntsville Hospital on Tuesday afternoon after emergency crews rescued her from a 70-foot ravine where she had fallen.
Authorities said the woman, a 31-year-old Littleville resident, fell down the ravine at the end of Dairy Road in Littleville, about two miles west of U.S. 43.
“You could walk around (the ravine) for the first 50-60 feet, but the next 10-20 feet you had to climb down,” Littleville Assistant Fire Chief Rodney McAnally said.
Crews from Colbert Heights and Muscle Shoals fire departments, Colbert County Sheriff’s Office, Keller EMS and Air Evac aided in the rescue.
The incident was reported just before noon. McAnally said the woman was brought out of the ravine between 1-1:30 p.m.
He said crews used ropes and a stretcher during the rescue. Medical personnel at the scene said it appears the woman sustained broken bones.
