RUSSELLVILLE — A Franklin County residence was destroyed by an early morning fire Monday, officials said.
"Someone drove by and saw the house on fire and called 911," Russellville fire Capt. Steve Thornton said. "When we got there flames were visible, coming through the roof."
The fire was reported to 911 around 8 a.m.
Thornton said the owners were not at home and no one was injured.
The residence is on Franklin 64, which is just south of Russellville off U.S. 43. He said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters said it appeared the fire started somewhere in the back of the house.
"That's where the most fire was coming from when we got there, but at this point we're still trying to decide what happened," Thornton said.
