FLORENCE — A local man faces rape charges after he was indicted during a recent grand jury session.
Cedric Lee Taylor, 26, 322 Cypress Mill Road, Florence, was indicted on a charge of first-degree rape during a recently concluded session of the Lauderdale County grand jury.
Florence police detective Kevin Jackson said Taylor is accused of raping a 25-year-old woman during a party at his residence in August.
He said Taylor and the woman knew each other, but were not together at the party.
“She was there with some others,” Jackson said.
Police said the woman reported she went to the bathroom and that Taylor walked in on her and raped her.
Taylor has denied the allegations.
First-degree rape is a Class A felony punishable by 10 years to life in prison if convicted.
Taylor is out of jail on a $50,000 bond.
