RUSSELLVILLE — A man accused of shooting another man during a fight over a woman, has been indicted on assault charges, police said.
Charles Lynch Hamilton III, 52, 100 Lynch Lane, Russellville is indicted on first-degree assault, officials said.
Courthouse officials said the indictment was issued during the recently concluded Franklin County Grand Jury session.
Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said Hamilton is accused of shooting Joseph Nelson, 49, 603 Tyler Ave., Russellville, on April 4.
The chief said the shooting took place outside a residence on Stuck Street in Russellville after Hamilton and Nelson had been fighting over a woman.
Nelson was shot once in the upper chest and was taken to Russellville Hospital where he was stabilized and then flown to Huntsville Hospital for treatment and later released.
Hamilton is out of jail on bail of $25,000.
