BIRMINGHAM — A Florence man who was injured while saving his two young children from a fire Tuesday morning, remains in critical condition at UAB Hospital, officials said.

Nicole Wyatt, a spokeswoman for UAB, said the 39-year-old Timothy Shane Green’s condition is not expected to change today.

Green was injured Tuesday morning when a fire broke out in his residence at 421 Enterprise Street, just after 4:30 a.m.

Green’s two children, Trinity, 2, and Devin, 6, were both injured in the fire.

A family friend said this morning that the two children are both in regular rooms at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham and are expected to be released within a few days.

Authorities said Green was injured when he broke out a window and put the two children outside the house.

Friends of the family said Green severely cut his hand while breaking out the glass window and also suffered burns and smoke inhalation.
