TUSCUMBIA — Breaking the cycle of abuse and domestic violence is the message that the Colbert Domestic Violence Response Coalition is trying to get across Saturday during a motorcycle ride.
“This is a chance to promote the efforts to stop domestic violence and break the cycle of abuse,” said Edna Burgess, one of the organizers for the event.
Burgess said this is the third year for the coalition’s ride called “Break the Cycle Motorcycle Ride.” The event will be Saturday and starts from the Colbert County Courthouse on Water Street in Tuscumbia at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
The fee is $20 for each rider.
Motorcycles will leave the courthouse, travel to U.S. 72 then to County Line Road, to River Road, then to Wilson Dam Road and back to Sixth Street, ending in Spring Park.
Burgess said there will be food and entertainment for the riders at the park.
The event is scheduled to end by 3 p.m.
Proceeds from the ride go to training for area law enforcement officers.
For details, call Burgess at 256-335-0053 or Debra Gray at 256-577-9253.
