Musicians with Shoals ties in AMA show Sunday

NASHVILLE -- Several musicians with Shoals ties will be featured in the broadcast of the Americana Music Association Honors & Awards program Sunday at 7 p.m.

The two-hour program will be shown on AXS TV, which is available on Dish, DIRECTTV, Verizon FiOS and AT&T U-verse, and online at axs.tv.

Shoals native Jason Isbell and his band, The 400 Unit, will perform, along with The Civil Wars and The Alabama Shakes.

Isbell, who now resides in Nashville, received the award for "Song of the Year" for "Alabama Pines," a track from his recent album, "Here We Rest."

The Civil Wars, a duo that includes Florence resident, John Paul White, were named the "Duo/Group of the Year" while the Athens-based Alabama Shakes received the "Emerging Artist of the Year" award.

Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, The Civil Wars and The Alabama Shakes performed during the show, which was held in Nashville's Ryman Auditorium in September.

The AXS TV special will feature all 19 performances from the critically acclaimed event as well as compelling and often heartwarming speeches by the artists honoring the best of the best of Americana.
