Shoals city, county, state and federal government offices will be closed Tuesday for the New Year’s Day holiday.

The holiday will affect garbage collection schedules in the area.

Tuscumbia’s Tuesday route will run Monday. Wednesday and Thursday’s routes will run on their normal schedule.

Florence, Russellville, Colbert, Franklin and Lauderdale counties’ garbage routes will run one day behind beginning Tuesday.

Sheffield’s Tuesday and Wednesday garbage routes will run Wednesday. Thursday and Friday routes will run as usual.

Muscle Shoals’ Tuesday and Wednesday garbage routes will run one day behind schedule. The commercial route will run Friday.

Residents are urged to place their carts at the street the night before or by 7 a.m.

Landfills in Colbert, Franklin and Lauderdale counties will be closed on New Year’s Day.
