Local firefighters honored for work

TUSCUMBIA — Several volunteer firefighters have been recognized during the annual Colbert County Volunteer Firefighters Association banquet.

During the banquet at the Tuscumbia Multipurpose Center, three firefighters who died this year were honored. Special memorial awards were for Spring Valley Fire Chief Wayne West, Littleville firefighter Chris Vandiver, and Byron Seth Clark, a firefighter from Colbert Heights.

Several other awards were presented during the event.

Michael Williams of the Brick Hatton Volunteer Fire Department was named Firefighter of the Year.

Locust Shores Volunteer Firefighter Diane Renard was honored with the Officer of the Year Award, and the Nitrate City Fire Department received the award for Fire Department of the Year.

Lodge sponsors child ID program

LITTLEVILLE — The Grand Lodge of Alabama of Free and Accepted Masons is sponsoring a free child identity program at the Littleville October Festival on Oct. 13. The program will be held in association with the Washington Lodge No. 36 of Tuscumbia from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All information collected will be given to the parents.
