No human remains found in evidence
By Tom Smith

RUSSELLVILLE — Police received information from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences that there is no evidence of human remains in items found in the yard of a residence on Wilson Boulevard in February.

“We had to investigate to see if the information we had was viable or not,” Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said this morning. “I’m glad it turned out to be nothing.”

Police went to the residence a month ago after being told an infant could have been buried in the yard.

Hargett said investigators collected materials from the yard and sent them to the state to be tested.

“We can close the case for now, unless something new comes up, and if it does, we’ll follow up on it,” Hargett said.
