Tanner boys grab win over Vincent

The Rattlers (25-4) picked up the semifinal win, topping Vincent 53-39 at the final buzzer.

Jace Haggermaker recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 off the glass, while Greg Maclin added 12 points and seven rebounds. Tyler Williams led Vincent (23-7) with a game-high 16 points, while E. J. Datcher scored 12 and Anterio Rogers added nine.

With the win, Tanner advances to play Hatton in the Class 2A Northwest Regional finals at 5:20 p.m. on Friday.

Tanner boys ahead at half

At half, the Rattlers lead 29-16 over Vincent in the Class 2A Northwest Regional boys semifinal. Jace Haggermaker leads Tanner with eight points and four rebounds, while E. J. Datcher leads all players with 10.

Tanner girls defeat Sulligent in landslide win

The Rattlers (14-16) topped Sulligent 75-36 by the final buzzer, led by Kelsey Houston, who had a game-high 16 points. Tanner scored 40 points off the bench, while Hannah Hampton led Sulligent (20-11) with 10 points.

Tanner will face Cold Springs in the Class 2A Northwest Regional finals at 3:40 p.m. Friday.

Tanner girls dominating in first half

Tanner leads 46-11 at halftime, continuing the run over Sulligent in the Class 2A Northwest Regionals girls semifinals.

Kelsey Houston opened the second quarter with three three-point baskets, totaling 14 points in the first half. Sydney Houston scored 12 points, while Samara French added 12.

Hannah Hampton leads the Blue Devils with six points.

Tanner girls rolling early

The Rattlers opened the Class 2A Northwest Regional girls semis strong, outscoring Sulligent 20-2 in the first quarter.

Hatton takes Cold Springs

The Hornets (19-8) pulled ahead in the third quarter, finishing with a 62-41 win over Cold Springs (18-11). Hatton's Ty Terry had a double-double, with game-high 25 points and 12 rebounds, followed by Laron Cooper, who scored 18. Chayse Elliott led the Eagles with 15 points.

Hatton will face the winner of Tanner and Vincent at 5:20 p.m. Friday in the Class 2A Northwest Regional boys final.

Hatton pulls ahead in third

After entering the second half tied at 22, Hatton pulled ahead with 20 points in the third quarter to lead 42-27 over Cold Springs in the Northwest Regional Class 2A boys semifinals.

Hatton, Cold Springs boys tied at halftime

HANCEVILLE -- Hatton overcame an early 6-point deficit against Cold Springs to forge a 22-all halftime tie in the boys Class 2A Northwest Regional tournament Tuesday afternoon. After coach Rusty Murks called a time out with Hatton trailing early, and the Hornets responded with a 9-0 run. Laron Cooper has nine points for the Hornets.

Red Bay falls by one point

Cold Springs defeated the Red Bay girls 41-40 in their Class 2A Northwest Regional semifinal today at Wallace State in Hanceville.

East Limestone boys fall to Wenonah

Wenonah overcame East Limestone 87-56 in the Northwest Regional Class 5A boys semifinal. Jordon Gandy led the Indians (19-13) with 25 points and nine rebounds, but could not match the Dragons (32-2), with four players in double-digit scoring. With the win, Wenonah advances to play Parker at 10:40 a.m. Friday.

Athens girls lose to Fairfield

Amber Carey scored 20 points to lead Fairfield (22-8) to a 57-49 win over Athens in the Northwest Regional Class 5A semifinals today. Destiny Bailey led the Golden Eagles (16-15) with 17 points, while Alliyah Smith had a double-double with 11 point and 23 rebounds.

Parker boys pull away from Athens

The Parker boys defeated Athens 45-33 after a 28-6 run to end their Class 5A Northwest Regional semifinal today at Wallace State in Hanceville. Athens led 27-22 entering the fourth quarter.

Lawrence County girls lose to Wenonah

Wenonah won the first game of the Northwest Regional today, defeating Lawrence County's girls 48-36 in a 5A semifinal at Wallace State-Hanceville.
