TUSCUMBIA - It was all for a good cause, but the pig and goat that were a part of the Deshler High School pep rally Friday afternoon might not agree.
In an effort to raise money for cancer research and in honor of a Deshler teacher who is battling cancer, students raised money in the name of faculty members this week, with the top money-raisers puckering up during the pep rally.
Students donated the most money to see longtime teacher Lynn Hollis plant a smooch on the pig. Football coach John Mothershed and basketball coach Brian Pounders kissed the goat.
Heather Faulkner, a family and consumer science teacher at Deshler, who helped organize the week’s events, said the students met their goal of $1,000. She said the money will be sent to the Liz Hurley Foundation. She said it was all a part of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
