CLOVERDALE — Law enforcement officials are trying to find out who broke into a residence on Lauderdale 8 this morning and did hundreds of dollars of damage.

“This has been going on since Labor Day,” said Doris Hill, who lives at the residence with her husband and son at 16326 Lauderdale 8.

Hill said someone entered about 8 a.m. and broke countertops, televisions, the toilet and jars, and used syrup and ketchup to write “Go to Hell” in the carpet.

Prescription pain medication was stolen.

She said the first time someone broke into the house was Oct. 26. Before that, fishing equipment was taken from a boat, and car windows and the house windows were broken.

Anyone knowing anything about the break-ins is asked to call the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office at 256-760-5757 or Shoals Crime Stoppers at 256-386-8685.
