FLORENCE — Authorities are looking for a man who escaped from the Lauderdale Work Release Center this morning.

Police said their search continued for Daniel Allen Davis, 33, who had lived at 1601 Gusmus Ave., Muscle Shoals.

Officials said Davis had been in jail on theft charges and sentenced to work release.

Police said he and Raymond Gibson Jr. left the work release center on Seminary Street and Veterans Drive, around 6 a.m.

Gibson, who is charged with murder, turned himself into authorities a short time later.

Gibson is charged with murder in connection with the July 2012 stabbing death of Savanna Brooke Parrish. He was in work release after being convicted on drug-related charges that occurred before the stabbing.

Anyone knowing anything about Davis or his whereabouts is asked to call local law enforcement officials or Shoals Crime Stoppers at 256-386-8685.
