MONTGOMERY - State Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh said Thursday morning that early revenue projections for the 2014 general fund budget show it short by “a couple hundred million” dollars.
Speaking to reporters at a news conference at the Capitol, Marsh said that the revenue shortfall will likely result in a mixture of level funding and cuts for non-education state agencies.
About the state Education Trust Fund that supports public schools, Marsh said it was in “decent shape” for 2014.
The Alabama Legislature will begin in earnest discussing the 2014 budgets when its annual session begins next week.
