ATHENS — A Sheffield man is in Limestone County Jail accused of stealing his aunt’s car and wrecking it Wednesday, Limestone County Capt. Stanley McNatt said.

Darrin Neal Wiggington, 24, 2819 East 11 1/2 Ave., is charged with first-degree receiving stolen property and driving under the influence.

McNatt said Wiggington allegedly took his aunt’s 1994 Toyota Avalon, valued at $3,000, from her home in the 19000 block of Cox Road.

He said Wiggington wrecked the car on U.S. 72 at Gordon Road in Athens.

Wiggington’s bail was set at $6,000.
