SHEFFIELD — Sheffield remained perfect in Class 3A, Area 16 play with a 54-36 home win against Rogers in boys high school basketball Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs (12-4, 4-0) raced out to a 13-4 lead and never trailed the rest of the way.

Hunter Danley posted a game-high 17 points to lead Sheffield. Gerwan Thompson added 16 points for the Bulldogs.

Rogers was led by Caleb Morrow’s 13 points andJosh Burchell addded 11.

n Mars Hill 60, Colbert Heights 34: Mars Hill overcame a slow start for a Class 2A, Area 16 win. The Class 2A No. 8 Panthers scored four points in the opening quarter before finding their offensive rhythm.

Landon Willis and Jordan Holt scored 13 points each to lead the Panthers, who improve to 14-5 on the season. Holt, who came off the bench, had a career-best in points.

Kaleb Suggs had a game-high 14 points for the Wildcats.

n Florence 47, Muscle Shoals 28: Class 6A No. 6 Florence used a big fourth quarter to pull away from Muscle Shoals. A 19-8 run in the final period helped the Falcons season the win and improve to 15-4 on the season. Muscle Shoals fell to 11-5 on the year.

Chaunce Watkins and Beniquez Brown combined for 30 points, as Florence took a 19-17 halftime lead and held a 28-20 advantage at the end of the third quarter.

n Brooks 71, Deshler 56: Holden Corum led five Brooks players in double figures with 19 points.

The Lions led 19-11 after the first quarter and 33-21 at halftime.

Brady Bedingfield had 12 points for Brooks (13-5), while Skylar Beck added 11 and Seth Curtis 10.

Deshler was led by Will Ivy with 20 points and JuJu Donley with 15.

n Lauderdale County 66, Colbert County 46: Lauderdale County ran away from Colbert County in the third quarter to turn a close game into a blowout. The Tigers led 31-25 at halftime but outscored the Indians 20-10 in the third quarter to pull away.

Drew Newton led Lauderdale County (9-7) with 21 points while Jacob Liles scored 15 and Vic Gilbert added 12. Colbert County was led by Jonah Castille with 15 points and Sam Howard with 12.

n Central 48, Wilson 41: Ten different players scored for Central in a Class 4A, Area 16 win.

Central’s Greyson Reesor, with 11 points, was the only player in double figures for either team.

Central led 25-21 at halftime, but outscored Wilson 14-7 in the third quarter to pull away.

Wilson was led by Jeffrey Pridgen and Cameron Thorn, who scored nine points each.

n Waterloo 63, Phillips 49: Strong second and third quarters helped propel Waterloo to a win. The Cougars led 14-13 after the first quarter but outscored the Bears 34-21 over the second and third quarters to pull away.

Dillon Guthrie led Waterloo (7-12) with 18 points while Wayne Darby scored 15 and Chase Hollis added 11. Phillips was led by Rodney Camp with 15 points and Cole Burks with 12.

n Shoals Christian 64, Cherokee 45: Matt Russ scored a game-high 15 points to lead Shoals Christian in an easy win.

Will Bishop added 12 points for the Flame, which led 30-19 at halftime. Jeffrey Patrick’s 10 points paced Cherokee.

n R.A. Hubbard 75, Covenant Christian 28: Class 1A, No. 3 R.A. Hubbard dominated the second and fourth quarters to post a home victory over Covenant Christian. The Chiefs used runs of 27-7 and 22-2 to bury the visitors.

Paul Mason’s 10 points led the Chiefs.

n Phil Campbell 70, Lamar County 53: Four players reached double figures in scoring for Phil Campbell.

Skeeter Benson led all scorers with 20 points for the Bobcats. Collin Vickery added 19, while Cameron Harris had 15.

n Hardin County (Tenn.) 50, Wayne County (Tenn.) 46 (OT): In the second overtime game of the night between the two schools, it was the Hardin County boys team that came out on top.

Kelby Woodlow and Will Shelton scored 14 points each to lead the Tigers. Peyton Mathis led the Wildcats with 19 points while Justin Melson added 11,

n Red Bay 58, Sulligent 55: Brett McDowell sank a go-ahead 3-pointer for Red Bay with 12 seconds left and Sulligent’s half-court shot at the buzzer missed off the rim as the Tigers pulled out the Class 2A, Area 16 win.

McDowell’s 13 points paced Red Bay, which led 30-25 at halftime but trailed 43-41 after three quarters.

Hunter Childers added 11 points for Red Bay (8-9, 3-1).

Girls

n Brooks 55, Deshler 43: Brooks finally broke through against Deshler, earning its first-ever victory over the Tigers with a big fourth-quarter rally.

Deshler took a 40-38 lead into the final quarter, but the Lions quickly took control. Deanna Thompson scored seven points and K’Maya Roach had six in the quarter to help Brooks earn the area win.

Roach finished with 22 points and Thompson had 15 for the Lions. Jothani Dixon scored 13 and Ra’Jene Swopes had 11 for Deshler.

n Cherokee 38, Shoals Christian 35: Briana Goodloe scored a game-high 28 points and made four 3-pointers, including the game-winner at the buzzer for Cherokee.

The Indians trailed the entire game before tying it at 33 in the fourth quarter. Shoals Christian retook a 35-33 lead before a turnover led to a tying basket by Cherokee’s Olivia Taylor.

Kalyn Davis’ 10 points led Shoals Christian.

n Red Bay 46, Sulligent 36: Red Bay jumped out to a big first-half lead in the win.

Kasey Sparks led Red Bay (15-2, 4-0) with 11 points while Lexy Lindsey added 10.

n Lauderdale County 64, Colbert County 34: Lauderdale County opened up a 35-13 halftime lead in an easy win.

Karlee Brown scored 16 points and Grace Newton had 11 to lead the Tigers (15-4, 5-0 ). Liz Noceda scored 13 points for Colbert County.

n Waterloo 52, Phillips 23: Waterloo pulled away in the fourth quarter to pick up the victory.

Baylee Atkinson led Waterloo with 20 points, helping key the 16-2 run in the final period to seal the win. Bradi Morris added 11 points for the Cougars (7-10).

n Mars Hill 51, Colbert Heights 23: Fifth-ranked Mars Hill opened the game with a 21-6 run and cruised to a Class 2A, Area 16 win. All but one player scored for the Panthers (16-4).

Madison Jacobs’ 11 points led Mars Hill, which led 40-20 at halftime. Destinee Pratt led Colbert Heights with seven points.

n Florence 36, Muscle Shoals 23: Florence led 18-15 at halftime and used a 12-6 third-quarter scoring spurt in the third quarter to pull away. Muscle Shoals managed two points in the fourth quarter.

Jerrisa Green led the Falcons with 11 points while Emily Towery added 10. Brianna Hillman’s six points led Muscle Shoals.

n Central 44, Wilson 37: Brooke Poole and Aleeha Bridges scored 16 points each to lead Central in a Class 4A, Area 16 win. After a 19-11 third-quarter run gave the Wildcats the lead, Central was able hit free throws in the fourth quarter to hold on for the victory and improve to 4-0 in area play.

Poole, who scored all of her 16 points in the second half and was 8-for-8 from the free throw line, including 6-for-6 in the final eight minutes of play.

Harlie Barkley led the Warriors with 16 points.

n R.A. Hubbard 62, Covenant Christian 40: Class 1A No. 1 R.A. Hubbard outscored Covenant Christian 18-2 in the first quarter in an easy win.

Alexis Acosta and Alexandria Gholston scored 15 points each to help keep R.A. Hubbard undefeated. Anna Noblit turned in a game-high 18 points to lead the Eagles.

n Tharptown 57, Vina 29: Tharptown improved to 7-0 in area play as the Wildcats (14-5) cruised past Vina.

Erica Valdez led Tharptown with 12 points and Braeden Sellers had 10.

n Wayne County (Tenn.) 56, Hardin County (Tenn.) 49 (OT): After rallying to tie the game at 45 at the end of regulation, Wayne County outscored rival Hardin County 11-4 in the overtime period to pick up a road victory.

Kelsey Risner scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Wildcats. and Hayley Inmon added 11.

n Addison 61, Belgreen 56: After rallying from an 18-point second-half deficit, Belgreen couldn’t hang on to a late lead against Addison.

The host Bulldogs trailed 46-28 midway through the third quarter before mounting comeback. Belgreen took a 51-50 lead with just over two minutes to play before Addison rebounded to close out the game by hitting 11-of-12 free throws down the stretch.

Erica Smith hit seven 3-pointers to finish with a game-high 31 points for Belgreen.
