BEAR CREEK — A local woman was killed and her mother remains in a Birmingham hospital after they were involved in a one-car accident Thursday, police said.

Rebecca Foster Patton, 56, 1307 Annapolis Ave., Sheffield, was killed in the accident, Bear Creek Police Chief Ed Franks said this morning.

He said her mother, Elizabeth Watson Foster, 89, same address, was injured and flown from the scene to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Foster was in fair condition this morning, according to a hospital spokesman.

Reports indicate Patton was driving a 2000 Oldsmobile that was traveling south on Alabama 13 when it ran off the road, hit a ditch, went airborne and flipped upside down.

Frank said Patton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bear Creek police are investigating.
