Social Security office hours will be reduced

Social Security offices in Alabama will be open 30 fewer minutes beginning Nov. 19, and will close at noon Wednesdays beginning Jan. 2, according to the Social Security Administration.

New hours for the offices will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The local Social Security office is at 203 S. Walnut St., Florence.

Agency employees will continue to work regular hours, but closing early will give them time to complete face-to-face interviews and process claims work without overtime costs, according to the administration.

In addition, Social Security field offices will be closed Nov. 23.

Many Social Security services are available online at www.socialsecurity.gov or by calling 1-800-772-1213.
