One familiar name and one newcomer will square off in Saturday’s Division II Football Championship at Braly Stadium. Valdosta State advanced to the title game with a 35-19 victory over Minnesota State-Mankato on Saturday. The Blazers, from the Gulf South Conference, will be making their fourth appearance in the championship game, having won in 2004 and 2007. The Blazers (11-2) will face Winston-Salem State. The Rams (14-0) advanced with a 41-18 victory over West Texas A&M. They will try to become the first historically black college to win the Division II title. The game will begin at noon and be televised by ESPN2. Tickets are $25 and on sale at the Shoals Chamber of Commerce or by calling 256-764-4661.
