Much has been said and written about NFL quarterback Tim Tebow and his faith: words of criticism, praise, acceptance and denial. Who are we to say whether Tebow is true to his belief, and whether his heart and soul are as much (or more) a part of his daily actions in his athletic ability?
For decades, we have watched both men and women in the sports world, as in other parts of their lives, make the sign of the cross (father, son and holy spirit) on their chest. In their belief, this is certainly their way of uttering a short prayer and giving God the glory.
I do not recall there ever being one word printed or said (and rightly so) about the show of their religious belief.
Why is it so out of the ordinary for us to be a witness to Tebow’s faith when he has practiced this faith all his public sports life, and, I would think he practiced his belief system even before we got to know him.
Our world has moved so far to the left it seems an oddity to witness a person’s dependence on God, whether it’s an outward show or silent prayer. The left wants to point fingers, mock and say, “How very strange!”
