RUSSELLVILLE - A Franklin County teenager has been indicted on rape charges and will be tried as an adult, officials said.

Grand jurors indicted Kaden Duane Oxendine, 17, 86 Flippen Ave., Russellville, during their January session. He faces charges of first-degree rape and second-degree rape.

Investigators said Oxendine is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl.

Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said Oxendine was arrested in September after his office conducted an investigation. The decision was made at the time to charge him as an adult. State law requires that a juvenile 16 years old or older who faces a Class A felony must be charged as an adult.

Authorities said Oxendine is accused of forcing the girl to have sex with him. Reports indicate he and the girl met briefly just before the rape reportedly occurred.
