By Dennis Sherer Staff Writer

Some of the top bird dogs and dog handlers in the country are at Doublehead Resort near Town Creek this week competing in the United Field Trailers Association’s national championship.

The competition got under way Sunday and continues today with events in the amateur, senior and women and youth divisions.

Wednesday’s events include double pointing and flushing dog competitions.

Daily competitions begin at 8:30 a.m. and end around 1:30 p.m.

The event runs through Saturday when the final round of the pointing and flushing division competitions will be held. Saturday’s events include a shooting demonstration for exhibition shooter Tom Bradley at 4 p.m.

Admission to the field trials and the shooting exhibition is free for spectators.
