Veterans Drive closed for RR crossing work

FLORENCE — A portion of Veterans Drive will be closed beginning this morning while work gets under way to improve a railroad crossing.

The street will be closed between Commerce Street and Royal Avenue, while Tennessee Southern Railway begins replacement of the crossing on Veterans Drive. Veterans should reopen to through traffic Friday.

The city is providing $189,000 toward the project.

Traffic will be rerouted to Huntsville Road.
