RUSSELLVILLE — Indictments have been filed against a Franklin County man accused of providing liquor to two 15-year-old girls and then sexually abusing and raping one of them.
Court officials said Jerry Lee Davis, 57, 8911 Alabama 19, Vina, is charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said Davis was arrested in July 2012,
Investigators said the two girls are not from Franklin County, but were visiting a friend at Davis’ house for the weekend.
“Apparently he supplied them with liquor, got them drunk, and they were raped,” Oliver said.
Authorities said Davis, after buying beer and liquor for the girls, is accused of unsuccessfully trying to rape one of the girls.
Investigators said the girl went to bed after drinking, and Davis is accused of taking off his clothes and crawling into the bed with her. Deputies said he tried to force her to have sex, but she fought him off. Investigators said he also is accused of touching her inappropriately.
The other girl reported she was raped shortly after getting sick from drinking alcohol.
Davis is accused of picking her up from the bathroom floor, taking her to bed, undressing her and raping her.
First-degree rape is a Class A felony punishable by 10 years to life in prison.
A person convicted of first-degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony, faces a prison sentence of 1-10 years.
Contributing to the delinquency of a minor is a Class A misdemeanor, which carries a sentence of up to a year in jail and a fine.
Davis is out of jail on bail totaling $75,000.
The Franklin County District Attorney’s Office said Davis could be arraigned in February and the trial could be scheduled for March.
