  • “There must be a lot of crazy people around here in Alabama that try to rob people. Do you know how many people are carrying guns? I’m one of them. I’ve got several of them, so come knocking on my door and see how I take care of it.”

  • “It’s this simple. Romney voters really don’t want Romney in office because he has no purpose, no plan, no strategy and he’s out of touch. Romney supporters just want Obama out of office. I feel they’re going to be disappointed in November.”

  • “Teachers are the reason goals are achieved in the Florence school system. Let’s give credit and raises to the ones who deserve them: our teachers. Board, are you listening?’

  • “The 44 percent Romney was speaking of was not the military, the Medicare and the misfortunate. I’m retired military, Medicare and was born misfortunate, but after working 70 years, I’m comfortable. When did America stop believing in working for all you have? I would venture to say that less than 20 percent of the people that receive free entitlements deserve them.”

  • “I’m almost 64 years old and I want to live as long as I can. I don’t want to eat that Monsanto GMO ... that’s in the grocery stores. I want the food labeled so I can make a choice.”

  • "Interesting how they would give the superintendent and the assistant superintendent a raise, but they waited until after the election. And they also waited until after qualifying time. So, don’t forget this in four years when we can vote them all out."

  • “I hate to sound pessimistic, but the truth of the matter is I really feel sorry for young folks of this country 40 or 50 years from now if this country keeps going on the path it is going. Us people who are over 60 years old already know how far downhill our country has gone in the past 40 or 50 years.”

  • “It was sort of comical, an acquaintance of mine, who is a Republican and I’m a very liberal Democrat, got into a debate about this election. And as he put it, I know President Obama inherited a terrible mess, in fact, a catastrophe on the financial meltdown - but we’ve got to somehow tie him to it because he didn’t clean it up fast. That’s politics.

  • “The Florence city board of education has no choice but to defend the superintendent, the CFO and the raises they gave because they look like idiots for having done it.”

  • "I agree, Mrs. Obama should stay out of the lunchrooms. I’m a school nurse in a middle school and students are definitely not getting fat at school. I do believe in portion control and a balanced, healthy diet. But, these kids, like I said, are not getting fat at school."

  • "I wish you people would stay off Mrs. Obama. You better wish you were as a concerned citizen as she is. How come Alabama is (one of) the fattest states in the Union? Because you people don’t want to listen to the good things that Mrs. Obama has to say."

  • “These parents that are calling in to You Said It and complaining about Michelle Obama sticking her nose in the lunchrooms and that their children don’t like the lunches that are served now, this is good nutritional food which they should eat. Undoubtedly, the parents have never taught these children what good, nutritional food is, and that’s why they’re bellyaching.”

  • “To sum up what Ross Perot and David Walker just got through saying on C-SPAN, they said we’re not following the Constitution. Nobody takes responsibility for anything and America lives in denial, including all politicians. Also, the people in power award themselves with big pay raises, even though they don’t deserve anything to earn the money. Unions go on strike and force the public to give them a pay raise. The government pays people not to work so they can get their vote and stay in office.”

  • “The fact that the Republican Party is trying to stop people from voting says something to me, and I have voted Republican in the past. But this action is not only sad and sickening, it’s very scary.”

  • “You people who leave your garbage cans out after the pickup date are devaluating the property of your neighbors. And it’s not very interesting to look out your window and see a garbage can across the street right in front of you. Would you please remind them that there is also a fine imposed on people who do that?”

  • “Don’t try to raise yourself up by pushing others down.”

  • “When Mitt Romney was asked about a policy, he couldn’t answer. So the commentator said devil is in the detail. Romney said the angel is in the policy. That’s the same as just saying believe what I say.”

  • “Fall or spring, on the most beautiful days you can bet this: our neighbors out here in the country are going to burn stinky stuff all day. Can’t open my windows, walk outside or sit on the porch. Wish people would respect others. They’ve already burnt down a building and a car. What else?”

  • “About the preacher who spoke the positive side of Republicans from the pulpit, why would the elders allow the other side of the coin to be talked about from the pulpit since we know the Democrats did not want God to be part of their platform at their convention? I don’t know if I’d want to listen to that side of the coin since I believe in God.”

  • “I can’t believe that all these politician buttheads are arguing over who should pay more tax - the rich, the middle class, the poor. Gee, if you would just simply take a flat tax on everybody making, say over like $18,000, you have to pay a flat tax of 10 or 11 percent or whatever, everything would balance out in this whole country.”

  • “You know, the headlines ought to been Thursday, “Mitt Romney wins first debate decisively.” The people that he switched over and Obama is shown for what a fool he is. But, no, you all couldn’t do that. Like I said, I understand, you left-wing, propaganda machine.”
