GADSDEN - Shoals School of Gymnastics and Cheer won state titles in the Silver Prep Optional and Level 2 recently.

The Silver Prep Optional Level scored 112.90 to edge out the NSG Saltos and the Tuscaloosa Tumbling Tides. The Level 2 Team scored 112.35 to win over Planet, Prattville YMCA, and Calvin's. Twenty-eight members of the Shoals School of Gymnastics won individual titles, with three athletes qualifying for the Alabama State Regional Prep Optional Team.

Qualifiers for the regional, scheduled for Tupelo, Miss., on May 10 are: Chandon Hines, Bailey Goodwin, and Chaney Beth Black. Kaylie Grace Wright, Rebekah Fleming, Mikayla Vandiver, and Arial Corum won all-around titles.

Other state champions included: Wright, Montgomery, Fleming, Vandiver, Lauren Nicholas and Lindsay Wilkins (vault); Vandiver, Minori Moriyama, Breanna Bevis, Arden Rose, Black, Hines, Goodwin, and Corum (bars); Wilkins, Vandiver, Lindsey Walker and Hines (beam); Wright, Atyah Jones, Fleming, Moriyama, and Corum (beam).

Shoals' Gold level team was third with three team members. The platinum team consisted of Bree Moye and Emily Malone. They both scored their record high on floor.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - Sheffield Swim Team member Daniel Huang won six medals to open the long course meet season this past weekend.

Huang won gold medals in 100 meter butterfly and 200 meter free; silver in 50 free, 100 free and 50 fly; and bronze in 100 breast.

At the April 5 meet in Scottsboro, Kori Randolph finished fifth in the 100 IM. Micaele Duncan placed second in 100 free, fourth in 100 IM, and fifth in 50 free and 50 breast. Zachary Hyde won trophies in 100 free and 100 fly. Other swimmers who attended the meet were Kelsey Weaver, Sarah Morgan and Maggie Lee.
