FLORENCE — Music in the Park returns to Wilson Park on Wednesdays.

Sponsored by the Florence Parks and Recreation Department, the event will be 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays, May through June.

There is no charge to listen to the music.

Concessions will be sold for those wanting to buy lunch. Attendees also are invited to bring a brown-bag lunch.

Music in the Park kicks off Wednesday with winner of The Year of Alabama Music songwriting contest, Joseph Baldwin.

Entertainers scheduled to appear in the park in May include: The Browns, performing country, gospel and hits from the ’50s to the ’70s, May 8; Alabama Sen. Bobby Denton, May 15; Dorothy Cole as Tina Turner, May 22; and The Cadillacs, May 29.

Scheduled to entertain in June will be: Eddie August, performing hits from the ’70s and ’80s and gospel, June 5; Jeff Hornbuckle, June 12; The NuTones, performing country hits, June 19; and Gary Nichols, June 26.

The series ends with a Friday, June 28, evening performance at McFarland Park on the banks of the Tennessee River.

Re-Play will be the featured band 6-8 p.m.
