TUSCUMBIA — The Alabama Music Hall of Fame is ready to show off a new, expanded lobby, courtesy of the Shoals Home Builders Association.

The association picked the lobby expansion as its 2017 community project, something the organization does every year, said Bobby Bryan, who served on the project committee. Bryan, who owns Bobby Bryan Builders in Florence, said the organization wanted to help the Shoals music community.

The project opens up the lobby and will allow more people to attend the intimate concerts held there periodically. Previous shows often sold out due to the limited capacity.

The portait gallery on the east side is now visible from the lobby and patrons can purchase tickets at a new ticket booth on the west side of the lobby. Guests will exit the museum into the gift shop.

"We're getting a portable stage and a new sound system," hall of fame Director Dixie Griffin said.

The portable stage will allow them to configure the room based on the type of show or anticipated attendance.
