FLORENCE — A 31-year-old man accused of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl remains in jail.
Andrew Keith Walker, 3324, Lauderdale 33, Killen, is charged with enticing a child for immoral purpose, three counts of second-degree sodomy, three counts of second-degree rape, and three counts of second-degree sexual abuse.
Lauderdale County sheriff’s Investigator Matt Horton, who is assigned to One Place in the Shoals, the area’s only family justice center, said Walker is an acquaintance of the girl’s family.
“From what we were able to determine during the investigation, this had been going on since April,” Horton said.
The allegations were reported to One Place.
“Apparently, she came forward, told her parents what was going on, and they reported it to One Place,” Horton said.
He said the investigation began July 16.
After talking with Walker and gaining enough evidence during the investigation, they secured an arrest warrant, Horton said. The warrant was turned over to the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, and Walker was arrested.
Reports indicate Walker’s cellphone was seized and will undergo a forensic review.
“This is the kind of situation that One Place is for,” said Angie Hamilton, the facility’s director. “One Place is here to work these kind of cases. Sometimes, victims in cases like this don’t know where to go and get the help they need.
“One Place makes it easier and more secure for the victims to come in and disclose these types of situations. I’m glad we were here for them, and we could help them in this case.”
Second-degree sodomy and second-degree rape are both Class B felonies and are punishable by 2-20 years in prison.
Enticing a child for immoral purposes is a Class C felony and carries a punishment of 1-10 years in prison .
Second-degree sexual abuse is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by a year in jail.
Walker is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on bail of $110,000.
