FLORENCE — Some of the critical care patients have left Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital and are arriving at the new North Alabama Medical Center on Veterans Drive and Helton Drive.

A convoy of ambulances began moving patients just after 6 a.m. and some have already arrived at the new facility.

The first patient to make the move to the new hospital was Betty Glenn of Russellville.

Glenn was ready and “anxious” for the ambulance ride to the new facility on Veterans Drive and Helton Drive early this morning.

Hospital officials said 140 patients will be moved today.

This is a big day for NW Alabama. My wife and I made the tour of the new hospital and it is quite impressive.
