A Shoals Christian School student who collapsed in cardiac arrest Tuesday is improving as he remains in the cardiac care unit at UAB Hospital.
Kenan Jones, 14, and an upcoming freshman at the Florence school, collapsed while running sprints during workouts on campus.
A coach and another student athlete administered CPR and he was taken to Huntsville Hospital.
Jones was later med-flighted to Birmingham where he has undergone testing to determine the cause of the cardiac arrest.
His mother, Felicia Jones, who is Shoals Christian's Head of School, said her son is much improved but is still weak and experiencing some short term memory loss.
There is a good Samaritan account set up in Kenan's name that goes directly toward his medical expenses. Donations are accepted at any Bank Independent location.
There is also a GoFund Me account online that may be accessed under Kenan Jones Medical Expenses.
