FLORENCE — Members of the Phi Alpha honor society for social work students and professionals at the University of North Alabama are hosting an "Out of the Darkness" campus walk April 30 to raise funds for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention and local suicide prevention resources.
"We are looking to raise awareness to this cause because of the loss of valued members of our community and bring the conversation to the forefront to let others know that they are not alone," Phi Alpha member Hannah Karr said.
Registration for the Out of the Darkness campus walk at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex on the UNA campus begins at 1 p.m. The walk will begin at 2 p.m.
Sponsors who donate $250 to $5,000 will have their logos printed on the T-shirts that will be available at the walk.
Sponsoring organizations can also set up an information booth to raise awareness of their business or initiative.
The deadline to receive logos for the T-shirt is Sunday.Â
