If you really want to “rally citizens from our entire area to support UNA” then recruit more local athletes. You read the paper every day that our local athletes are signing scholarship offers from schools around the area. If they are good enough to play at the other universities, then why is UNA not pushing harder to sign them? UNA, even though they are D1, is not going to get the recognition of an SEC school. If you truly want the community support, get more local athletes on the rosters.
SMU has uniforms and helmets with “Dallas” on them. UAB has "Birmingham" jerseys. I like the move. Even if everyone knows UNA, they may not know WHERE the university is located.
