NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Leading by a run in the seventh inning, North Alabama gave up a run in the seventh and two in the eighth to drop its final game of the season, 4-3 at Lipscomb.
With the loss, North Alabama (16-38, 7-16 ASUN) closes its first season of Division I.
Lipscomb went on top with a run in the third inning off UNA starter Adam Mancou,r but the Lions quickly answered with two runs in the top of the fourth for a 2-1 lead. Peyton Sockwell doubled and Tate Mathis hit a two-run homer to put the Lions on top.
A Chris Bashlor homer to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning tied the game at 2.
UNA regained the lead in the top of the eighth as Davis Elliott singled and later scored on a Sockwell single.
The Bisons got two runs in the bottom of the eighth off reliever Bryant Claunch on a combination of three hits and two UNA errors.
Elliott, Sockwell and Mathis had two hits each for the Lions.
Mancour pitched six 1/3 innings, allowing just two runs on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts.
Claunch (5-2) took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits.
